One moment of madness from Huddersfield's midfield player Doyle gave Leeds the only goal of this West Riding Senior Cup tie. Two minutes to go to half-time, Doyle slid in to tackle Sheridan, just as he was about to shoot, but his attempted back pass landed straight at the feet of striker McCluskey, who snapped up the unexpected chance by banging the ball straight past Mason. Up till then, it had been a dull game with few scoring chances and the home fans in the 1,728 crowd were groaning in the thirieth minute when Wilson fired over from twelve yards after Harvey had missed a corner. Leeds had little winger Wright to thank for most of their attacking moments and he very nearly scored midway through the first half when he made a great run down the right and his powerful shot was blocked by Mason. Ten minutes into the second half Doyle nearly became a Huddersfield herowhen his long range shot beat Harvey but it struck the post and Irwin cleared the rebound. Huddersfield rallied and defender Jones rounded Harvey but was forced wide and the chance was lost. Town's new strikerTempest, on loan from Fulham, never looked like adding to his tally of four goals in two games for the club and Huddersfield Manager Mick Buxton must be worried over who is going to score for his team with last season's top striker Lillis out of action until mid-October.
